How to keep a child interested in piano lessons?
My 9 year son is taking piano lessons and is doing good,how do i keep him interested as he gets older?
It helps to have a chronological series of lesson books. Such as level 1, level 2, level 3… It will keep him interested in the next level
Also, don’t force him to play songs that he doesn’t want to play. IN the beginning, it’s best to listen to the teacher, but as you keep playing you can start playing your own songs of interest rather than what the teacher asks. Once he gets really good, like say 5 or 6 years, you can have him quit lessons if he wishes, but still practice. On his own. Scary isn’t it?
Right now you don’t have to stress about it, if he is happy, he will most likely stay that way for the first couple of years. Once he is good enough to learn songs on his own, have him play songs from his favorite video game or something. If he doesn’t enjoy piano, there is no reason to force him to play it.
